Plot

Set in the giant metropolis of Russell City, the man with the title of Garo, the Makai Knight Sword, protects the city from Horrors that possess humans, fighting in secret. One day while annihilating a Horror, Sword encounters the keyword, El Dorado. Believing it to be a large plot of the Horrors, he begins an investigation to find the meaning behind it. While doing so, he comes across a girl named Sophie. Sophie is looking into the word El Dorado as it was the last message from her brother who went missing. Sophie has lost her brother and Sword lost his younger sister in the past. The word El Dorado pulls them together and they feel an unseeable bond between them, leading them to work together. With those feelings connected, their journey begins.[2]

GRVL Teaser poster

A very first teaser poster

  • To surprise the audiences, this anime was only called Vanishing Line until September MAPPA revealed that it is actually part of the Garo series.
  • This series featured a Garo who rides a motorbike regularly, a first for the franchise. Kouga in civilian form rode a motorcycle in the episode Wheels in Garo: Makai Senki.
    • According to director Park Sunghoo, this attempt is to try a new style of Garo and also a homage to the Marvel Comic character Ghost Rider.[4]
    • It is unknown what this means for Garo's horse Gouten or if he will even be used in the series at this time.
